The Virginia Children’s Book Festival has special programming is designed to accommodate children with sensory-sensitivity and communication issues. Longwood Speech, Hearing and Learning Services invites preK children for an interactive program with award-winning author Wendy Shang. She will read her book “The Rice in the Pot” and children in songs and activities. Children will have the opportunity to engage with Longwood students and enjoy language and literacy activities that accompany the book's theme. Sensory sensitive and diverse learning programming will take place at Longwood’s Speech, Hearing, and Learning Services, where trained professionals will offer guidance and assistance during sessions.

Mural Painting at the LCVA

12:00pm-1:00pm

Join the trained staff at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts for this sensory-sensitive painting session. Muralist Monty Montgomery will help children paint the 2022 VCBF LIVEmural in this quiet, dimly-let session, just down the block from SHLS.
